Delhi government ‘scared’ of Accountability Commission: BJP

BJP on Saturday alleged that Congress government in Delhi was opposing setting up of an Accountability Commission as it was afraid that the corrupt who have been ‘shielded’ by it till now will be put behind bars.

‘The Congress is opposing it as it is scared that the Accountability Commission will fix responsibility for scams carried out by the government in the last 15 years.

‘Congress knows that many of those patronised and shielded by its government will land up in jails once Accountability Commission is set up for Delhi,’ said Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel in a statement here.

A Delhi BJP delegation yon Friday met lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung and demanded setting up of Accountability Commission to find the minister or the official accountable for delays and cost overrun.

A BJP delegation, led by Goel and comprising Mayors of the North, East and South Delhi Municipal Corporations and others, met Jung and handed him the letter.

Goel said if a BJP government if formed after December elections, it will set up an Accountability Commission which ;will look into the cases of corruption and irregularities during the 15-year misrule by the Congress government and hold people involved accountable for their wrongdoings’.
