Delhi government orders inquiry

The Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into Pavitra Bharadwaj’s death. The inquiry was ordered on 7 October. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College is is completely funded by the Delhi government. The inquiry is to be conducted by SP Dixit, director for higher education. He has been directed to submit his report to the government within three weeks.
Pavitra Bhardwaj, formally an employee with the Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, attempted suicide on 30 September, alleging harassment by college authorities. She was admitted to a government hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, she passed away on 7 October. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women on Tuesday set up a committee to inquire into Pavitra Bharadwaj’s death, who succumbed to her burn injuries at a hospital here.
