Delhi government approves construction of five schools

Delhi government’s Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) on Tuesday approved the construction of five senior secondary school buildings. The total cost of these infrastructure projects has been estimated at Rs 85.15 crore.
In the first meeting held last month the expenditure finance committee gave their concurrence to infrastructure projects costing Rs 321.00 crore, which included construction of NCC Bhawan at Rohini, a school building at Dwarka sec-17 & 22, Madanpur Khadar-II & III and Hastsal Village. Approval was also given to the redevelopment and upgradation of roads and improvement of drainage in industrial areas at GT Karnal road, Badli road, Jhilmil and Wazirpur and the construction of 118 residential quarters for judicial officers at Dwarka and Rohini. In its second meeting held on Tuesday the committee sanctioned construction for five senior secondary school buildings, at an estimated cost of Rs 85.15 crore by the Directorate of Education, at Rohini sector 1, 4, 6, 17 and at Kalkaji.
The building plans and approvals thereof have already been obtained from the local bodies. These buildings will have new systems in place for water harvesting, installation of sewerage treatment plants and fixing of LED lights. All five school buildings will each have 41 class rooms, 20 toilets, 5 laboratories, one medical room, one library and one computer room, amongst others.
The Expenditure Finance Committee further directed that the education department and the work executing agency – PWD to complete work within the scheduled period and sanctioned cost. No cost escalation or extension of scheduled period will be considered.
