Delhi cong gets more members

Despite the anti-Congress wave across the country, a huge rush was witnessed during the launch of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee [DPCC] membership drive at its office on Tuesday.

Thousands of people came to become a member of the Congress party. In the presence of thousands of Congress workers, DPCC president and MP Jai Prakash Agarwal and All India Congress Committee [AICC] general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi launched the membership drive, which is for five years, from 2011 to 2015.

Agarwal made Dwivedi a member of the party and filled his form, whereas Agarwal was made a Congress member by former DPCC president Prem Singh.

After that, Agarwal gave membership to MPs Ramesh Kumar, Prem Singh, AICC secretary Major Ved Prakash, MLAs Malaram Gangwal and thousands of Congress workers were also made members of the party on the occasion.

Agarwal said, ‘People have a lot of faith in our party as because its for the poor people and masses. Even our performance is good, hence people came in large number to enroll themselves with us’.

Later in his address, DPCC president exhorted Congress workers to go door-to-door in their areas to enroll new party members. Agarwal appealed to all the district and block Congress committee presidents to make membership drives in their areas by holding special functions and give responsibility to Congress workers at the polling-booth level to go door-to-door to enroll the Delhi people as members of the Congress party.

Agarwal said the membership forms are available at the DPCC office for anyone wanting to become a member.
