Delhi cabinet approves new hospital projects

The department of food and civil supplies on Thursday put up the cabinet note to increase the ambit of its flagship ' Dilli Annashree Yojna, but after discussion on this scheme, the cabinet unanimously deferred Annashree Yojna issues till Monday's meeting.
Minister of food and civil supply Haroon Yusuf briefed the media after the cabinet meeting.
The approval for construction of Indira Gandhi Hospital at Dwarka and extension of Delhi Government Employee Health Scheme(DGEHS) received green signal in the meeting.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit claimed that the government is committed to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to residents of Delhi and hence she has been expanding the healthcare infrastructure. The government has established a number of hospitals and dispensaries spread over Delhi.
'It has been decided to construct Indira Gandhi Hospital at Sector-9, Dwarka to provide comprehensive healthcare to the residents of west Delhi including Dwarka and its neighbouring areas, particularly, the poorer sections of the society and to also act as a referral institution for patients referred from health centres in the capital,' said, health minister A K Walia.
