Delhi businessman robbed, shot at

A 26-year-old businessman was shot at after being robbed inside his white Scorpio car by four unidentified armed assailants, late on Wednesday night in south Delhi. On Thursday evening, the car was recovered from DLF Phase-1, Gurgaon.

The incident took place around 12.05 am, when Nitin Sharma, a resident of IP Extension, Patparganj, was returning from work. ‘Mid-way, he parked his car near JL Nehru Stadium to attend to a phone call. An unknown person approached him and asked for a ride, claiming his vehicle had broken down,’ a senior police official said.

The moment Sharma opened the car door, three more persons forcibly entered the car. He was shifted to the backseat on gunpoint. The assailants robbed him while driving his car aroundfor about an hour. After taking him to Gurgaon, they shot him and dumped him at Sector 56.

A PCR call to Gurgaon police was made by locals, who saw Sharma lying unconscious in a pool of blood . ‘He was rushed to nearby Paras hospital. An operation was carried out to remove bullets. His statement was recorded and the case was transferred to Delhi police at 2 am,’ said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (East).
