DEPRESSED NRI COMMITS SUICIDE IN VASANT KUNJ HOTEL
In a room of a well-known five-star hotel, the body of a 55-year-old US-based Non-Resident Indian [NRI] was found in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi. It has been reported that Verghese, the deceased, committed suicide by consuming poison. According to the police, Varghese is a native of Kerala and was settled in New York. He had come to India a few days ago and was staying in Delhi for the last five days.
On Thursday, one of the hotel staff noticed Verghese’s body lying on bed and informed the police. The official added that a suicide note has been recovered from the room, in which he has mentioned that no one is responsible for his extreme step and that he was depressed. ‘No injury marks were found on his body. The victim’s post-mortem report is awaited from All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] hospital,’ said a police officer. Verghese ran a business, for which he used to come to the capital every alternatemonth, said the officer.
TRAIN THIEF ARRESTED
A 31-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly stealing valuables from train passengers and eight stolen laptops were recovered from him, police said on Thursday. The accused, Amit, was arrested yesterday from Usmanpur when he went there to dispose of stolen articles, S B S Tyagi, Deputy Commissioner of Police [Crime], said. Following the arrest, eight stolen laptops were recovered from him, Tyagi said.

In a breakthrough step towards strengthening the academia-industry interface, Delhi Technological University [DTU] organised a road show, titled ‘3rd Industrial Revolution’, in collaboration with FICCI. P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, said, ‘The 3rd Industrial Revolution will usher in a new era of knowledge-led education, industry relevant research and product innovation to power the growth of new age enterprises fuelled by the convergence of abundant energy and the power of communication technologies.’ The event was organised by S K Garg, Head of Training and Placement, and was well attended by faculty members and students of the university.
