Delhi BJP urges AAP to ‘fulfill its poll promises’

Delhi BJP has assured ‘constructive cooperation’ to the Aam Admi Party (AAP) government and urged it to fulfill the promises it had made to the people of Delhi.

‘If AAP is really serious about fulfilling the promises it has made in its manifesto then it should go ahead to form the government. BJP will provide whatever cooperation is required,’ said Delhi BJP chief, Vijay Goel, adding that BJP shall sit in opposition. Goel, however, pulled up AAP for making impractical promises to the people of Delhi.

‘The AAP had made many promises including two major promises of reducing power tariff by 50 percent and providing free water up to 700 litres per day,’ he added.

He further added that AAP had celebrated its victory at Jantar Mantar and now it is the responsibility of its leader Arvind Kejriwal to fulfill the promises of its manifesto. ‘If they do not form the government then it clear that the AAP was never serious about fulfilling these promises which were made with lot of fanfare,’ he added.

‘I hope that instead of giving moral lessons to others, the AAP now really gets down to fulfilling its promises. The fact is that AAP has made several promises in a hurry jut to woo the voters. It still hasn’t made it clear that how it is going to implement them. In fact, with every passing day, the way AAP is trying to give different excuses exposes their intentions of making empty promises,' alleged Goel.

On the promises made by BJP Goel said that they have several detailed reports and has come out openly explaining the way it was going to implement its promises, if voted to power.

On Thursday, BJP, which is the single largest party with 31 seats plus ally Akali Dal’s lone seat, had turned down Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung’s offer of government-formation, citing lack of majority. A party needs at least 36 seats in the House of 70 members to form a government.

The Lt Governor has called AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to discuss with him government formation tomorrow. AAP on Friday said it will tell Jung that the party does not have the majority and was not inclined to form a government.
