The non-inclusion of senior BJP leaders from the city in the central list has come as a shot in the arm of state BJP chief Vijay Goel.
According to the sources in the party, former BJP president Harshvardhan, who was also one of the main contenders for the post of Delhi BJP president against Vijay Goel, was eyeing the post of vice-president in the Central team but inducted as member in Central Election Committee.
Similarly, former BJP president Vijender Gupta was reportedly lobbying hard for the seat of general secretary that was vacated by Vijay Goel. Gupta has been kept completely out of Central list.
Thus city has no representation in a team of 13 vice-presidents, 10 general secretaries and two joint secretaries.
Aarti Mehra had a long cherished ambition to head Mahila Morcha of the party at national level but she lost the post to Saroj Pandey, MP from Chhattisgarh. Mehra has been retained as secretary in the Central team. The party has retained all the three secretaries – Aarti Mehra, Vani Tripathi and Anil Jain.
Pravesh Verma, son former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma, who is presently general secretary in Vijay Goel’s team was aiming for president of National Youth Wing, but was denied entry in the Central team.
According to the sources, Jagdish Mukhi, was also lobbying hard for the post of vice-president in the party, but had to make do with the post of secretary in disciplinary committee. Mukhi was finance minister during BJP government in Delhi.
‘There are several disciplinary complaints from Delhi pending against Jagdish Mukhi but shockingly he was made secretary of Central disciplinary committee,’ said a senior BJP leader in Delhi.
BJP’S VIJAY JOLLY TO SUE CONG
Senior BJP leader and convenor of Overseas Friends of BJP, Vijay Jolly, has threatened legal action against Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi for propagating false facts through media regarding funding for the visit of USA delegation to India.
‘The allegations of Rashid Alvi are false, misleading and fallacious. I must sue him, a legal notice will be sent to Alvi very soon,’ said Jolly, who is coordinating the visit of the 10-member business delegation from USA, that include three US Congress members, to Millennium Post. ‘The Ethics Committee of USA comprising members of House of Representatives and Senate have already cleared the visit. Indian politicians should not make a mockery of USA rules. USA business leaders paid their own travel, hotel and food expenses,’ he added. ‘They are very sad with the fact that a section of Indian media is propagating such unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations,’ added Jolly.
He alleged that UPA government pays expenses of the personal staff of Robert Vadera even if they are going abroad for shopping. ‘But here in this case, Congress leaders and anti-Modi crusaders are making issue out of nothing. An NRI businessman Shalabh Kumar, chairperson of National Indian American Public Public Policy Institute (NIAPPI) funded and facilitated the visit,’ added Jolly.
