Delhi BJP delegation meets najeeb jung, demands accountability commission

New Delhi: A delegation of city BJP leaders led by Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel met lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung on Friday and handed over to him a memorandum demanding the constitution of accountability commission for Delhi.

The Accountability Commission, according to Goel, will ensure that where ever taxpayers money is wasted due to delay or irregularities in projects, the minister and the officials concerned are held accountable. ‘The BJP wants an accountable administration in Delhi and with this objective in mind, the party is asking for setting up of the Accountability Commission. The commission will look into all the cases of corruption and irregularities in delivering services to people in the last 15 years,’ he said.

Outlining the concept of Accountability Commission proposed by Delhi BJP, Goel said, ‘Accountability Commission shall be an anti-corruption watchdog and the nodal agency for combating corruption in the entire machinery of governance. It will look into all the complaints of corruption and enquire into the grievances and allegations against public functionaries including the ministers.

The commission will address the complaints and grievances of people with regard to the delivery of services to people within stipulated time.  It will also look into the cases of corruption or any other irregularity in delivering the services to people.
