Petrol remained a mirage for residents as most of the pumps in the Uttarakhand capital ran out of fuel on the second consecutive day due to the of upgradation refineries, which has hit several areas in the northern and southern regions in the country.
Serpentine queues of vehicles could be seen at petrol pumps across the city. “I don’t usually walk for official work. But the paucity of petrol forced me to cover short distances on foot. The worst thing is that even three-wheelers are charging exorbitant prices for short distances” said an advertising agency owner.
A petrol pump owner near Gandhi Park said, “We have suffered heavy losses due to the petrol crisis. We are helpless as petrol-carrying vehicles are not reaching the capital for the past two days. It generally happens once or twice a year due to the cleaning of refinery, which is pre-requisite. We hope that everthing normalises in a couple of days.”
