Define time limit for declaration of drought: SC tells Centre

The Centre should revise the drought management manual to provide effective relief to calamity-hit farmers and define a time limit for declaration of drought, it said.

The Agriculture Ministry should hold a meeting in a week with the Chief Secretaries of Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana to assess the drought situation, it said.
