Def Min delegation visits Crime Branch office

“We have been briefing the Union home ministry on a daily basis, and necessary inputs were reportedly passed on to the concerned ministries, which include the ministries of petroleum and natural gas, coal, power and defence. But on Wednesday, two Defence Ministry officials approached us to know about the part of investigation concerned with their ministry,” said a police source.
Earlier, a police source had informed that some senior officials in the ministry had agreed to cooperate in the probe.
The Defence Ministry staffer arrested on February 24 was identified as Virender Singh (31). He had been working as a house-keeper in L-Block of the ministry since 2010. Singh had allegedly stolen an identity card from the desk of an auditor working in the ministry and handed that over to Lalta Prasad, one amongst the first set of the accused in the case, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
Yadav further said, Singh also provided blank letter heads to Lalta Prasad, one of which was used in a fake authorisation letter regarding a vehicle, which was later used in transport of the stolen secret documents of the Petroleum Ministry.
