The MoU has given the green signal to start construction on two metro routes- ??6.8 km ?metro line from City Centre metro station on blue line ?to sector 62 ?and 29.6 km metro route to connect City Center ? metro station to Bodaki in ?Greater Noida.
‘?Decks have been cleared after the signing of MoU and now we will start the tendering process so that we can complete the work in scheduled time,’ said Rama Raman?, Noida and Greater Noida CEO. Managing Director of the DMRC, Mangu Singh, was also present on this occasion along with senior officers of DMRC. ?
While announcing the move, officials said the construction work for two metro projects- a 6.8 km metro extension between City Centre and Sector 62 and a 30-km metro route between City Centre and Greater Noida’s Bodaki is likely to be started from January next year and the entire work is expected to be completed within three years.
?
As per the MoU, the metro route from City Centre to sector 62 will be constructed and operated by DMRC but the metro line from City Centre to Bodaki in Greater Noida would be constructed and operated by Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). DMRC would provide technical expertise, assistance and cooperation to NMRC for this project as NMRC is a new company without relevant experience. ?
The City Center-Bodaki project is estimated to cost around Rs 5,064 crore and is likely to be completed by 2017. The cost of the project would be shared on 50:50 basis between the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government. ?The Central government would pump in over Rs 2,500 crore in the project through union urban d?evelopment ministry while Noida and GNIDA would share the financial burden of the Uttar Pradesh government. Noida, on direction of the state government, will share 60 percent while GNIDA would share 40 percent cost of the state share in the project. The proposed Metro link between City Centre and Bodaki will have 22 stations. Two stations at Knowledge Park-1 and Sector Delta-1 in Greater Noida will be planned for the future. ?
The total cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 1,805 crore. The 6.8 km line will provide connectivity to sectors 32, 34, 35, Hoshiarpur, sectors 51, 52, 71, Greater Noida Extension Marg, Sarfabad, sectors 60, 61, 62, 63 and National Highway-24. Indirapuram would also be benefited with
this expansion.
