Dead body of 12-year-old girl found

Family members of the girl claimed that before the girl was strangled to death, she was also raped. However, it has not been established as yet. The accused allegedly identified as her cousin is reportedly absconding.
According to the police, a PCR call was received early on Sunday morning about the dead body lying on the ground. The body was discovered by the deceased’s parents as a manhunt was launched after she went missing late on Saturday night. After the family identified her as their daughter, the body was taken to a nearby hospital for the post-mortem examination.
The family was questioned to gather clues about the culprit. During the investigation, it has appeared that the deceased’s cousin, an 18-year-old boy, is missing. Also, his mobile phone was found to be switched off. Family claimed that the deceased’s cousin is the man behind the incident.
‘Prima facie it appears that she was strangled with a rope. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Once the accused is arrested, the story will unravel,’ a police officer said.
‘A manhunt is on to nab the accused,’ the official added.
