DDA VC post falls vacant after Balvinder transfer

The post of vice-chairman in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has fallen vacant, following the transfer of senior IAS officer B <g data-gr-id="15">alvinder</g> Kumar from the urban body.

Kumar has been transferred to the Ministry of Mines and has assumed charge as its secretary on July 1. The vacant post at DDA, however, is yet to be filled.

"No new appointment has been made as of now, permanent or temporary, to the post of VC at DDA," a senior official said. DDA launched the biggest-ever housing scheme in its history during Kumar's tenure. "I am sure that whoever succeeds me will carry forward the work done so far. As for the future of DDA, I would say that the three policies brought in during my tenure – land-pooling, transit-oriented development (TOD) and redevelopment –should be taken up for building high-quality infrastructure," said Kumar.

He held the post of development commissioner for Handlooms in the Ministry of Textiles immediately before his appointment as the DDA's vice-chairman. He was earlier also CEO and CEO-cum-chairman of the Noida Development Authority.
