Hitting back at deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s allegation that it owes the MCD crores of rupees by means of service charges and property tax, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said they have already paid the money and that MCD in fact owes it dues for “maintenance of parks”.
In a statement released on Monday, the DDA said that with the intervention of the Ministry of Urban Development, Rs 26.7 crore had been paid to the three MCDs (EDMC, North MCD and SDMC) for service charges/property tax on various properties of the DDA including offices, staff quarters, community halls, sports complexes, flats and lands lying vacant, for up to 2015-16. It also highlighted the fact that the matter is sub-judice in the Delhi high court, scheduled to be heard on February 15.
“A total amount of Rs. 6.20 crore to EDMC, Rs. 8.49 crore to SDMC and Rs. 12.01 crore to NDMC has been paid on account of service charges/property tax as per directions of the MoUD in consultation with the 3 MCDs,” the statement said.
