DD all set for grand Yoga Day coverage

Public broadcaster Doordarshan has planned elaborate Yoga Day coverage on June 21 from Rajpath. However, the coverage will be different from the Republic Day Parade.

Doordarshan has put up 23 hi-definition cameras to cover the event, sources said. “Around 23 cameras have been installed, which will be connected with three OB vans with microwave and OFC cables, to cover the mega event,” the broadcaster said in a statement.

“The logistics involved in the live telecast of International Yoga Day are complex as the area involves a 1.5-km stretch from Rafi Marg to India Gate and will also cover the entire lawn to the north and south of Rajpath. The 23 Doordarshan cameras being used for the coverage have been placed at strategic positions to cover all 40,000 participants, guests and Prime Minister Narender Modi,” the statement read.

While two cameras will be positioned atop India gate, there will be other cameras on jibs and another one on a several feet high hydraulic crane to give a bird’s eye view of the entire Rajpath from India Gate to Vijay Chowk. Around 18 cameras will cover the main stage and also ensure an all-round coverage of the performances.

The event will start with a 9-minute film, welcoming all to the world of yoga, at 6.20 am on June 21.
