Day after Mallya quits as chairman, United Spirits scrip over 2% up

Shares of United Spirits ended with 2.5 per cent gains on Friday after Vijay Mallya quit as chairman of the company following an agreement with its majority owner, Diageo. After surging 6.4 per cent to Rs 2,835.30 during intra-day trade, shares of the company finally ended at Rs 2,729.85, up 2.45 per cent on BSE.  

At NSE, the stock ended with 2.39 per cent gains at Rs 2,729.55. Buying was also seen in other group stocks, with United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd surging 19.95 per cent, Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers 2.36 per cent and United Breweries 0.18 per cent.
