The board examinations of classes X and XII of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) kicked off on Tuesday with the first paper being English.
Many of the class XII students felt that the paper was lengthy, however, others said: “Paper was lengthy but straight and easy questions made it balanced.”
Kanchan Tayagi, a teacher at a government school of Karol Bagh area, said: “Students complained that it was a lengthy paper. Essay writing on topics like reservation and letter writing took most of the time of the students writing their exams.”
“However, the question was easy and that was a relaxation,” said Sanjeev Mehta a student of the Bal Bharti Public school. “I was fearful when I saw the paper which was lengthy but finally I managed to answer all the questions within the stipulated time,” Mehta added.
While some students were seen offering prayers at local temples before going inside the examination halls, their teachers and principals were seen wishing them good luck, helping them clear out their last-minute doubts. Many students were seen revising their notes and discussing important questions with friends just moments before the examination began.
“Board exam is obviously a big examination for my entire family and not just my son. It’s a stepping stone for his career. I am here to lend my son an emotional support and don’t want him to feel alone,” said Surender Rawat, a parent accompanying his child.
A little over 10 lakh students of classes X and XII appeared for the board examinations which began on Tuesday. The exam will conclude on April 22 with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) examination.
The entry of students inside the centres was monitored by CBSE officials as no applicants were allowed without his/her admit card. Students were only allowed to carry a pen inside the centre.
