Dawood in Pak, says Rajnath; Pak envoy denies

India has credible information that 1993 Mumbai blast accused Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told Lok Sabha on Monday, even as he vowed to bring the fugitive back “no matter what”. The Central govt was earlier caught in a controversy over its statement that it had no idea where the underworld don is.

“Whether we have to pursue Pakistan or put pressure, we will not rest until we get Dawood Ibrahim back,” Singh said in the Lok Sabha. He said that the government would leave no stone unturned to bring Dawood back to India.

“Dawood Ibrahim is wanted in serial bomb blast cases of 1993 in Mumbai and  a Red Corner Notice is in existence against him,” said Singh. “The United Nations Security Council has also issued a special notice No.U-65/4-2006 against him,” he added. “We will get Dawood Ibrahim no matter what. We are sure of that,” said Singh.

Pakistan's High Commissioner Abdul Basit ruled out New Delhi's assertion that Dawood Ibrahim is in the safe haven of Islamabad.
