Two days after a 55-year-old woman was murdered at her residence in Malviya Nagar, the police has arrested the deceased’s daughter-in-law on charges of killing the old lady after a heated argument between the duo.
On Thursday, police received information that two ladies had sustained injuries and had been shifted to AIIMS. Madhu was declared brought dead whereas her daughter-in-law Rachna (25) was admitted with injuries.
It was alleged that two unidentified men made a friendly entry into the house as they were known to Madhu. Rachna told police that the men attacked Madhu using a blunt object and later attacked her as well after which she fell unconscious.
However, police grew suspicious when doctors said that Rachna’s injuries could be self-inflicted.
PS Kushwaha, additional deputy commissioner of police (south) said, ‘On sustained interrogation, Rachna broke down and disclosed that she had killed her mother-in-law with a hammer kept in the house.
She also disclosed that on Thursday she had a heated argument with Madhu.’ Rachna is a graduate in Political Science from Delhi University and got married to Madhu’s son Deepak in 2010, who is a charted accountant.
