Darjeeling to remain part of Bengal: Mamata

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee asserted on Tuesday that Darjeeling Hills would remain part of West Bengal, even though Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters did press for a separate State during Banerjee’s ongoing visit to the Hills.
‘Let us remain together, Darjeeling is a part of Bengal and we will remain together,’ Banerjee said at a programme at the Mall in the presence of GJM president-cum-chief executive Bimal Gurung. ‘There should not be further trouble as that would hamper development again,’ she said,while addressing the gathering. When GJM activists raised slogans, Banerjee stood up and warned them not to raise such slogans at the programme and asked them to do so at their party forum.
