Danish tourist gang rape: Police to file chargesheet within 20 days

Delhi Police, probing the case, said that ‘it is a sensitive matter and the investigations will be completed expeditiously’.
‘As the case is sensitive in nature, we are trying to file the charge sheet in this case within 20 days,’ Delhi police told additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) Sudhanshu Kaushik.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court, on Monday, has extended police custody of all five arrested accused for robbing and gang-raping a Danish tourist till 23 January.
Police informed the court that the accused know about the hideouts of the remaining accused and their interrogation will help them in tracing the absconding persons. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Sudhanshu Kaushik remanded the five men to police custody till 23 January.
According to police, the two accused had escaped and they are in hiding at Haridwar. The magistrate allowed Delhi police to interrogate them and find out about their whereabouts.
Regarding the investigation, the court has asked police to take the victim’s help for their investigation. Police said that the woman has left India for Denmark last week. Her medical examination, conducted in Denmark, confirmed raped.
‘The lady can be asked to appear via video conferencing to identify the accused’, the court said. Police informed that they are planning to send a letter to the victim, asking her to join the investigation, through the Danish Embassy or a team can be sent to meet her.
Till now Arjun, Raju alias Chhakka, Mohd Raja, Mahendra alias Ganja, Raju alias Bajji, and two minors have been booked by police for raping the 51-year-old Danish tourist at knife-point.
A Danish tourist on 14 January was gang-raped, after being robbed at knife-point near the New Delhi railway station, while seeking directions to her hotel in Paharganj from some unidentified men. Police said all the accused were vagabonds who first stole the woman’s belongings and then raped her.
