Cultural shows and local dance gain attention of Delhiites at J’khand expo

The exhibition area at Dilli Haat is decorated as per the theme of Jharkhand Expo-tourism, tradition, art and culture. Jharkhand’s cultural heritage was showcased and local dance forms of Jharkhand such as Chhau, Santhali, Paika and Mundari attracted large crowd at the expo.
Cuisines of Jharkhand like litti-chokha, chandrakala and khaja also found their audience. Fondness for lac bangles among the ladies was also seen. When asked about this expo, Sonali, a local resident of Janakpuri said, “The local artists have immense talent and the cultural shows were pleasing to watch.”
On the fourth day, an ‘Exporter summit’ was also organised in which around 50 exporters of handloom and handicraft from across the nation attended the summit.
The summit was addressed by K Ravi Kumar, director of Industry, Jharkhand government, he said: “The motto of this summit is to provide a platform to the artisans of Jharkhand, who despite being very talented, are not able to showcase their art and talent to the nation and the world.” After the summit, a dinner was also arranged for the guests.
Rajendra Prasad, nodal officer, said: “Around 40 stalls of Jharkhand handloom, jewellery, Khadi and local cuisines is bound to attract the visitors at Jharkhand Expo 2016, organised by Department of Industry, Government of Jharkhand.”
