Crucial poll meetings for Congress, BJP start today; SP’s meet tomorrow

Poll preparations for major political parties in Uttar Pradesh would get a boost this week when the BJP, Congress and ruling Samajwadi Party will hold all important meetings to chalk out their Lok Sabha poll strategies.
The Gujarati leaders of BJP and Congress would launch their direct interaction with the state party leaders from Tuesday while the ruling Samajwadi Party will hold the state executive meeting on 31 July.
SP state executive convened by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who also happens to be the party’s state president, will deal with the ways and means to highlight achievements of the government and counter the opposition charges on law and order.
State food, supply and jail minister and SP spokesperson Rajendra Choudhury said here on Monday that the meeting would be important in which party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would address the state executive.
On the other crucial meetings for BJP and Congress are slated from Tuesday to chalk out the strategy for the general elections. BJP general secretary and in-charge of UP Amit Shah will hold one-day meeting with the party leaders here to assess the poll preparedness of the party and review the names of the candidates for the LS polls.
