Criminal gang busted

A gang of five criminals was arrested by Delhi police on Tuesday near CRPF camp. A Santro car, a motorcycle, eight mobile phones, two knives and a dagger were recovered from the accused.
V Renganathan, Additional Commissioner of Police, said, ‘The criminals were identified as Rakesh Pehelwan, 37, Bunty, 30, Sanjay alias Raju, 26, Sanjay alias Sanju, 32 and Raju or Kaku, 26. A raid was conducted by a dedicated team and the gang was apprehended based on a secret information received by the police.
‘During interrogation, the gang confessed that they committed dacoity on a specific bus route,’ he added.
‘Among the gang members, Raju has been found involved in a murder case and two others are professional criminals,’ said Renganathan.
Rakesh, a resident of Rahubir Nagar, was involved in more than 20 cases including attempt to murder and rape. Similar number of cases were also registered against Bunty including under Arms Act, robbery and kidnapping. Other members of the gang had been convicted for few robbery cases. Raju is a resident of Rohini, whereas the rest of the accused hail from Paharganj.
‘Further investigation of the case is in progress’, told Renganathan.
