Three people were arrested in the national capital for drugging passengers travelling in trains and commuting on other modes of public transport before robbing them, police said on Monday.

So, police said, a trap was laid near the said station and the trio was apprehended on Sunday evening.

‘Two mobile phones, a wrist-watch, a suitcase and a backpack containing 100 tablets of Ativan of 2 mg, were recovered,’ he said.

During interrogation, they told police that they used to hire auto rickshaws and pick-up passengers from different bus stops and railway stations at random.

‘On the way, one of them would offer their victim a cold drink laced with the sedative and rob them as soon as he or she lost consciousness,’ Bhatia said. Their involvement, police said, in two cases has been confirmed. ‘We are probing previous involvement in similar crimes,’ he added.

HIGHWAY ROBBERS ACCUSED OF TRUCK LOOTS HELD

With the arrest of two notorious interstate highway robbers, the Delhi police has claimed to have solved several truck robberies that had taken place in the National Capital Region (NCR).

'Tausib and Mohammad Abid were arrested from Azadpur Mandi on Sunday evening,' said Deputy Commissioner of police (northwest) P Karunakaran.

They had came in the area to sell 306 LPG cylinders which they had robbed from Loni in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

During the interrogation they disclosed that in intervening night of Friday and Saturday, they had taken a lift in a truck from Loni, Ghaziabad.

They had thrown the truck driver in to a pit near the Bagpat district and taken away the truck containing all 306 LPG cylinders to Meerut to sell.

But the person who was to receive the loot was not found on that day and so they decided to hide the truck in the Sahibabad area and sell the truck to any receiver in Delhi, Karunankaran said.

They parked the truck in the Shahibabad area and while their other associates remained with the truck, the arrested duo came to Delhi to explore possible deals.
