CARJACKING GOON DIES BY HIS OWN GUN
In a bizarre incident in Greater Noida on Wednesday, a goon trying to flee after robbing a car succumbed to bullet injury from his own pistol that backfired. The incident took place near to the inauguration site of the Yamuna Expressway, to be opened for the public on Thursday.
Ironically, Noida police has been claiming fool-proof security for the inauguration of the expressway.
According to police, two robbers on a bike were waiting for one Nitish Kumar, driver of an Innova car, who had come to receive the staff of a Dental College in Greater Noida. As Kumar came at the gate of the college, the duo stopped him on the pretext of asking for route and overwhelmed him on the gunpoint.
They tied his hands and feet with a rope and put him on the rear seat of the vehicle. They then drove towards Pari Chowk. All these places concerned, including the inauguration site, fall in the jurisdiction of Kasna police station of Greater Noida.
It’s pertinent to mention that several VVIPs and senior officers are slated to witness the inauguration on Thursday.
‘The robbers had put their pistol on the dashboard, which fired as the car stopped with a sudden jerk on a speed breaker. The bullet hit one of the goons and he died on the spot,’ said a senior police official of Kasna police station in Greater Noida.
The other goon left the vehicle and ran away. Meanwhile, the staff in the college alerted the police, who reached the spot and chased the car. The injured goon was rushed to the nearby Sharda Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police, however, could neither identify the deceased nor the absconding goon. ‘Initial investigation in the case indicates personal rivalry among two groups,’ said an investigation officer.

OLD KARMA CATCHES UP WITH ‘ASCETIC’ ON THE MOVE
A middle-aged man, who calls himself an ascetic, was arrested for allegedly killing his friend after an argument over loan money in 2010.
Anand Swaroop Rathi, who last stayed in a rented accommodation in Ghaziabad, was arrested for the murder of 57-year-old Peter Franklin on 27 July, 2010 in Connaught Place in the capital, police said.
The case was cracked by a Special Team that was formed on the orders of the Police Commissioner for dealing with old, heinous, blind and pending cases.

He was not using any mobile phone and was not in constant touch with any person,’ K C Dwivedi, additional commissioner of police, New Delhi, said.
He said Rathi had earlier worked with the Air Force and Delhi Home Guards. Based on a specific input, police arrested Rathi from Connaught Place.
‘On questioning, Anand Swaroop Rathi admitted to have known Peter Franklin. He further informed that Peter Franklin had extended a loan of Rs 40,000 to him and was pressurising him to return the same.
‘On 27 July, 2010 they had a heated argument and things got out of hand. Rathi stabbed Peter in a fit of rage,’ Dwivedi said.
