Crime capital: Cash, jewellery worth `45 lakh looted

In a major case of robbery, jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh and cash worth Rs 25 were looted at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon from the posh Greater Kailash Part-II area. According to reports, four persons were involved in the robbery. According to the police, the incident took place at around 1.20 pm at house number H-32 in Greater Kailash II. Businessman Nihal Chand (48) along with his son Ashok Kumar (21) and servant Bablu were present at the place and time of the incident.

Chand works as a middleman for manufacturers and sellers of jewelleries. P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (south-east) said, ‘Chand also runs a trust from where he distributes books to poor children. For the same, two unidentified men approached him to take the form/application for the issue of the books. They allegedly took out a country-made pistol and a knife and robbed the shop at gunpoint.’
