Crime Branch arrests proclaimed offender after four-year run

Delhi Police Crime Branch has finally managed to arrest Sunil Pehalwan (34), a proclaimed offender, police said on Friday. One sophisticated pistol along with four live cartridges has been recovered from his possession.
He was absconding for the last four years after killing a businessman in Hoshiyarpur, Punjab. Sunil was a constable in Border Security Force (BSF). On July 16, information was received that Sunil would come to Chander Vihar area in Delhi and he was apprehended.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he was serving as a constable in BSF. One person namely Rajender Singh, a resident of his neighboring village used to harass his sister and also went to his house and threatened his father to get her married with him. When he came on leave, he came to know about this ordeal and he decided to eliminate Rajender Singh. He roped in his friend Punjab Singh in the plan and both of them went to the office of Rajender Singh. Thereafter, the three of them left for village Bassi Kikrawala. On the way, they shot at Rajender Singh and killed him.
“Thereafter, he joined his duty at Barmer. After a few weeks, he ran away from the unit. He and Punjab Singh came to Delhi and began to work as a daily wager. After some time, both of them learnt the art of fabrication and presently they were doing the work of aluminium and iron fabrication in Delhi,” said a senior cop.
Recently, they had observed a businessman who deals in huge cash transactions. They planned to rob him. To commit the robbery, they arranged a country-made pistol and 5 live cartridges. The pistol and 4 live cartridges have been recovered from him and he has been arrested. According to Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime branch) the information about his arrest has been given to Punjab Police.
