CPIM, TMC clash at Bhangar, several injured

Several political activists of CPI-M and Trinamool Congress were injured, and some vehicles set ablaze during a clash at Bamanghata near Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district on Monday.

At Bhangar, several buses and trucks carrying CPI(M) workers were attacked and set on fire allegedly at Bamanghata while they were on the way to attending a rally to protest Sunday's attack on former CPI(M) minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah.

Former CPI(M) minister Gautam Deb, who visited the spot soon after the incident, said as many as three party workers received gun shot injuries during the violence when eight vehicles were set ablaze by the TMC workers, allegedly led by local TMC MLA Arabul Islam.Islam on the other hand alleged that it was CPI(M)workers who first attacked his car and opened fire on him. He was,however,not injured but claimed to be assulted by the opposition workers.

Soon a contingent of police was despatched to the area which brought the situation under control besides dispersing the mob.
