CPI-M strongman Sujan Chakraborty was named in an FIR, along with four others in connection with the murder of the Trinamool Congress panchayat candidate from Baruipur in South 24 Parganas, Shibram Naskar on Thursday. Naskar was out on an election campaign when he was attacked with a sharp weapon and was greviously injured.
Chakraborty, the South 24 Parganas district secretary of the CPIM, is accused in three clauses of the Indian Penal Code(IPC), including murder, conspiracy to murder by the Baruipur thana. Naskar was out on a poll campaign when he dropped by into the house of a CPI-M worker and after an altercation, was attacked with a sharp weapon by Kanu Sapui, a CPI-M worker, alleges the Trinamool camp. Naskar was taken to the NRS medical college and hospital in Kolkata, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 7 pm on Wednesday.
Interestingly, the Mayor of Kolkata, Sovon Chatterjee, who visited the hospital, accused the CPI-M leader and ex Parliamentarian Chakraborty of ‘conspiring to kill’ Naskar.
