The Delhi high court on Wednesday decided to hear the plea of residents of a south Delhi colony relating to the waterlogging that occurred in their area.
Appearing before the bench of acting Chief Justice BD Ahmed and Justice Vibhu Bakhru, the residents welfare association of South Extension-II showed video clips and newspaper photos about the waterlogging near AIIMS and their area and requested the court to take up the matter on Wednesday.
The bench, which has been hearing a PIL on the issue, decided to hear their plea on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the court asked the residents to file an application before the court along with the video clips and newspaper photos.
Earlier, while hearing the PIL, the high court had pulled up the civic agencies and other public bodies for their failure to stop water-logging in the city during the monsoon and had asked their heads to depute officers to take care of the work and to hold them accountable.
The bench had asked each commissioner of the trifurcated MCD to make their deputy commissioners responsible to take steps for stopping waterlogging in their respective zones and in case of failure to take such measures, the heads will take disciplinary action against the officers responsible.
