A trial court pulled up Delhi police for not following its order regarding handing over a man from the North-Eastern state to the Manipur police, who was arrested in a cheating case. The court has sent a notice to Delhi Commissioner of Police (CP) and asked for a reply for non compliance of it’s order.
Ningthoujam Somendro Singh was arrested on 24 June by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and Manipur Police had come to the national capital for his transit remand. The court is irked because Delhi police has gone ahead with its previous order (of 25 June) and ignored the order which came on the next hearing.
On 25 June the court ordered to hand over the man to Manipur Police for his production before a court in Imphal, however, on 26 June the court ordered the police to respond on the accused’s bail plea.
Special judge GP Singh, has sent the copies of the order to the CP and asked for further action regarding explanation for non compliance of the 26 June order passed by the court.
Singh was produced before the court on 25 June where his plea for transit bail was dismissed by the judge, who had ordered that accused be kept in the custody of special cell till 26 June and be produced before the court in Imphal on 27 June. On 26 June, Singh, through his advocate Tarun Rana, moved another plea seeking transit bail before the sessions court which had issued notice to investigating officer (IO) of Manipur Police and the special cell directing them to appear in person before it on 27 June.
However, on 27 June, the court was informed by the special cell that Singh had already been taken to Manipur by the IO to produce him before the court there.
The matter was listed for hearing before the court today where special cell intimated the judge that Singh has been produced before the court in Imphal.
