Court disqualifies oppn lawmaker for hiding assets

An election tribunal in Pakistan on Tuesday disqualified an opposition lawmaker from Imran Khan’s party and imposed a <g data-gr-id="12">life time</g> ban on him from contesting elections, for not disclosing his assets before the general election in 2013.
Rai Hasan Nawaz, a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker had won from the NA-162 constituency in Cheecha <g data-gr-id="13">Watni</g> area of Punjab. However, his rival from ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Haji Ayub had challenged Nawaz’s victory over concealment of assets in his nomination papers.
Ayub presented reports related to Nawaz’s assets before election tribunal in Multan.
He said that Nawaz owned assets worth Rs 870 million, including a petrol pump, a Compressed Natural Gas pump and various properties rented by banks.
