A woman, accused of murdering her minor son and throwing him in a dustbin at a railway station here, has been acquitted by a Delhi court, which said that key witnesses in the case have not supported prosecution’s case. Additional sessions judge Savita Rao freed Pinki, resident of Vishnu Garden, of the charges of murder and destruction of evidence.
‘In such circumstances, when the complainant (woman’s husband) as well as eyewitness Indrawati, who are the material /star witnesses of the case, themselves have not supported the case of prosecution, no useful purpose would be served by examining the other witnesses for the same outcome in future.
‘As such, prosecution evidence is closed. Since there is no incriminating evidence against the accused, statement of accused is dispensed with and accordingly, she is acquitted of the offence under IPC Section 302 (murder),’ the court said.
According to the prosecution, on 29 March last year, the minor boy’s body was found in the dustbin of a ladies toilet in New Delhi Railway Station.
