Couple jumps on Delhi Metro track, injured

An engineering couple received severe injuries after they jumped infront of a running train at Chhatarpur metro station on Wednesday morning. During initial inquiry, it came to light that their families were objecting their relationship that might have compelled them to attempt suicide.
The incident took place at around 10.27 am, when a metro train heading towards Huda City Centre in Gurgaon arrived on plaform No 1 at the station. In the meantime, the couple identified as Amit Chauhan (28) and Mohini (25) jumped on the track. The eye-witnesses told police that when the couple jumped on the track, they were holding each other’s hands.
An investigating officer said: ‘As the metro train was arriving at the platform its speed was comparatively slow. That is why, the driver manged to apply emergency brakes and the couple escaped from being crushed. They received some injuries on their bodies and were immediately rushed to AIIMS where they were stated to be out of danger.’
During investigation, it was learnt that the couple were having a love affair from past few years and wants to marry each other.
