Council opens 24th expo to promote handmade carpets

The 24th India Carpet Expo [8th in Varanasi], an exclusive trade fair for handmade carpets and other floor-coverings, organised by Carpet Export Promotion Council, in the premises of Sampurnana Sanskrit University, Varanasi opened on Friday.
The four-day fair was inaugurated jointly by Saumitra Chaudhuri, member, Planning Commission and Economic Council to Prime Minister and Kiran Dhingra, IAS, secretary [textiles], ministry of textiles, government of India in the august presence of Anup K Pujari, IAS, director general of foreign trade [DGFT] and S S Gupta, IAS, development commissioner [handicrafts], which will remain open for business till 15 October, 2012. Siddh Nath Singh, chairman, CEPC alongwith members of the committee of administration, Rafique Ahmad, president, FIEO, Ajai Sahai, DG and CEO, FIEO, chairmen of HEPC and Texprocil were also present.
Two-hundred-and-ninety-seven exporters of handmade carpets from different craft pockets in India have showcased their products. The products displayed in the exhibition, clearly establish that India is a producer of wide range of quality products suiting to the requirement of buyers and consumers.
