Corporations get 1st installment of Rs 226.66 cr from Delhi govt

The government, while giving details of the amount, said that the money is being released to ensure
payment of due salaries to the staff of both the Corporations.
The government, in its press release, said that it has released Rs 138.28 crore for salary purposes and Rs 11.82 crore under non-planned heads for North MCD and a total of Rs 51.96 crore for salary and Rs 36.42 crore for East MCD.
Notably, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, had on April 1, the first day of the new financial year, directed the department of finance to immediately release funds so that the MCD safaikaramcharis could be paid their dues.
The Delhi government has made it clear that employees should not suffer due to the rampant corruption and gross mismanagement in the three Corporations.
The Delhi government has also appealed to the Central government to rise above party considerations and immediately release the funds it owes to the state, so that the financial health of the ill-managed corporations could be improved.
