Cop’s wife, daughter kill selves over girl’s poor Board results

A Delhi policeman's wife and teenaged daughter died after consuming poison, because of suspected depression stemming from the girl's poor result in CBSE’s Class XII exam, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place late on Wednesday night in outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar area. Depressed over her poor results in the class XII exams, the girl, Shivani, committed suicide by consuming poison.
'On seeing the girl dead, her mother, Kamlesh, also committed suicide. The girl’s father, assistant sub-inspector Pradeep Kumar, was away on duty when the incident took place,’ said a police officer.
According to police officials, Shivani's minor brother who also consumed poison is battling for life in a hospital. However, no suicide note was recovered. 'First, Shivani and her brother consumed poison and then their mother,' said a police officer. '
A neighbour spotted them lying on the floor and informed Pradeep Kumar,' added the police official. The victims were immediately taken to hospital where Shivani and Kamlesh were declared dead on arrival. According to a neighbour, the family members were depressed over the girl's poor performance in the Class 12 examination. 'We are probing into the matter, and further investigations are on,' said a police officer.
