Cops trace Kanda’s ‘paramour’

About two weeks ago, when Gopal Goyal Kanda was booked for abetment to Geetika Sharma’s suicide, Millennium Post was the first to expose the identity of Ankita Singh, whose name was mentioned in Sharma’s suicide note. She had alleged that Ankita had an illicit relationship with Kanda and a child from him as well.
Recently, Millennium Post had also published the details about a complaint that was lodged in Goa police station, which mentioned ‘Ankita Singh, wife of Gopal Goyal Kanda’. It is the same complaint that was earlier denied by the police in the Delhi High court during the hearing of anticipatory bail plea against Kanda. Now, asenior police officer has confirmed that such a complaint was registered in Goa’s Panaji police station on 21 September 2009.
Police also claimed that they have traced out Ankita, who is currently residing in Singapore. ‘A telephonic conversation took place with Ankita and she is ready to cooperate in the investigation,’ said a police official. According to sources, Ankita has been in Singapore since 27 July, along with her three-year-old daughter.
Delhi police has been conducting raids in Goa and has recorded the statements of Ankita’s brother and other relatives. Also, the cops are questioning the Goa police to find out more information about Kanda’s Goa connection.
The complaint in Panaji police station in Goa was registered against Ankita Singh and Nupur Mehta.
On Saturday, Delhi police will demand to extend the custody of Kanda for a few more days.
‘There is a possibility that the court might not extend the police custody and send him to judicial custody,’ said a source in legal department.
Meanwhile, as per court orders, Kanda was taken to hospital for routine medical examination. According to the sources in police, Kanda is still not cooperating in the investigation. ‘During the interrogation, Kanda told police that Aruna Chaddha used to call Geetika for professional reasons, and he was not in touch with Geetika for a long time,’ said source.
According to police, Shiv Roop, Assistant Manager (HR) of MDLR could also be apprehended. Shiv Roop was allegedly responsible for making a fake email id and also sending forged e-mails on Geetika’s email id.
On Wednesday, Delhi police said Nupur Mehta will be also called for interrogation, as she had worked for MDLR as senior vice-president. Also, she was in connection with Kanda, Geetika and Ankita. ‘I have not received any notice to join the interrogation by Delhi police. But the moment I get an official notice, I will surely join the case’, said Mehta.
