Cops tailed Gadoli lover to reach his Mumbai hideout

Sandeep Gadoli had crossed all boundaries to make sure that he was safe so that he could evade his arrest by the Gurgaon Police. Sources revealed that the gangster, who was involved in more than 35 cases, had used his contacts in the police department and a few businessmen who could help him on his run from the police.

Police also revealed that it was Gadoli’s girlfriend who actually led the Gurgaon Crime Branch to Gadoli. Gadoli had sent one of his allies, Manish Khurana, to get his girlfriend to Mumbai where he was staying in the Airport Metro Hotel, in Andheri East. Manish had used Gadoli’s Scorpio car to drive Gadoli’s girlfriend to Mumbai. Since the police were on constant watch out of Khurana and was tapping all his movements, they got to know about Gadoli’s whereabouts by following the Scorpio car to Mumbai.

“Khurana was a close aide of Gadoli and was in the news last year when he was targeted in a gang war between Gadoli and gangster Binder Gujjar,” said an officer who was a part of the investigating team.

“We were tracking his location for a few months and found him shifting between Mumbai, Goa and Shiridi,” the official added. Police had first got whiff of Gadoli’s whereabouts last November when his aide Sonu was arrested in Mumbai for harassing a model.

The operation after his encounter also revealed that Mumbai Police was kept in dark about Gurgaon Police’s operation and plans to catch Gadoli in Mumbai. According to the Gurgaon police, as soon as they got information about Gadoli being in Mumbai, they had called up the crime branch office to inform Mumbai police about the operation and also if the Mumbai police could offer them any help to nab Gadoli. But officials from Mumbai police said that they hadn’t received any call from the Gurgaon Police and they were kept in the dark, until the incident took place.

According to reports, the Mumbai Crime branch quizzed Khurana and Deepak and the three women. Mumbai officials also confirmed the presence of Gadoli’s brother and sister in Mumbai at the time of the post-mortem. Sources revealed that Gadoli’s brother had met the Joint Commissioner of Mumbai and blamed the Gurgaon Police for Gadoli’s death. The brother claimed that Gurgaon Police could have managed to arrest him and his encounter could have been avoided. The brother ahas also requested the Mumbai police to recommend a CBI or a high level probe into Gadoli’s death. Gurgaon Police have also brought the two accused arrested during the encounter to the city on Tuesday. “An FIR was also registered in this regard by Mumbai Police”, said Navdeep Singh Virk, the Gurgaon Police chief.
