Two youths landed in custody for auto-lifting to earn quick money in order to go abroad in search of jobs, police said on Wednesday.
Dilshad, 27, and Vivek, 22, were arrested from south Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur area on Monday during picket checking.
‘Their arrests led to solving of eight auto-lifting cases. During interrogation, they revealed that they met each other in Tihar jail a year ago. After their release, they planned to collect a huge amount of money to go abroad in search of private jobs,’ said a police officer.
They were apprehended earlier also for stealing motor bikes but now they changed their modus operandi.
‘They would target a late night gathering like marriage or a religious ceremony. Both would participate in the crowd and in the morning hours they would steal motor bikes,’ said the officer.
