Cops nab two kidnappers within three days

The kidnapping of a nine-year-old in Janakpuri on 21 October for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh was solved within 72 hours of the incident. The two kidnappers were arrested.

At about noon, Ashish Grover, who runs a mobile shop, was informed by his wife that his son Pranav Grover, 9, was missing.  The maid had taken Pranav to market. They failed to return till very late,’ said a police official.

A kidnapping case was registered at 4 pm and investigation was taken up immediately. Search for Babita, the maid, was also launched. ‘At about 11.55 pm, Mithali Grover, wife of Ashish Grover, received a ransom call on her mobile from an unknown person. They demanded Rs 50 lakh for the safe return of their son.  The call was traced to western UP and 10 police teams were formed to investigate, said a police official.

With the help of a local informer, the kidnappers were traced to Bilram and the police nabbed the two accused – Ravi and Veer Pal –  who were on a motor cycle with the kidnapped boy Pranav sitting between them. During interrogotion arrested revealed that Babita befriended a Meenu Kumar, from BehmbiPur in UP, who is residing in Noida.  According to the police, the kidnap was planned and executed by Meenu Kumar.
