Cops nab Nizamuddin Basti double murder accused

Delhi police has arrested the main accused in the Nizamuddin double murder case in which a mother and daughter were killed at Nizamuddin Basti on 21 November 2012. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Javed.

One among the two accused, Zaki was arrested on 26 November 2012 but the main accused had been absconding since the day of the crime.

The victims were Shadmani, 38, and her 17-year-old daughter, both engaged in a heated argument with the accused over a petty issue on the fateful day. Both the accused left the place in anger, but returned a while later and shot the women. They also opened fire in air in order to escape. Both the victims were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre by their relatives, but the girl was declared dead after preliminary treatments.

‘On specific information received, Javed was arrested on 2 March near the railway lines behind Humayun’s tomb’, told Ajay Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of police.

Javed hails from Nizamuddin and has previous records of criminal assault and robbery. Zaki is from UP and has an attempt to murder case against him.
