Cops nab 4 thieves, solve 15 theft cases

Check carefully before you hire a servant as he/she may be an agent of a gang deployed to scope out your home.

In one such case, Ghaziabad police have arrested a woman in her 40s who has accepted her involvement in 15 such cases of theft in the Delhi’s satellite town. Before her luck ran out she had managed to buy a three BHK flat and branded consumer goods.

The police have also arrested the husband of the woman, Akhilesh Kumar. According to the police, the woman has confessed that she was working as informer for a gang who used to rob the house after the woman quit the job.  ‘My motive for working as a maid was just to collect maximum possible information about the members, their work schedules, money and valuables with them,’ said Brijesh, 40, to the police.

Along with the couple the police have arrested Ravi Kumar and Arvind, but two members of the gang are still absconding. The gang was nabbed on the input of an informer while they were planning a theft on Sunday night.

‘They have accepted their involvement in 15 cases of theft in the area. They have two daughters and one son and were living in a three BHK appartment in a posh area,’ said S S Yadav, SP City, Ghaziabad. ‘In addition to that, five cases under various sections have been registered against the couple in different police station in Ghaziabad,’ he added. The police have recovered laptops, 12 mobiles, LCDs, DVDs, home theatres, jewellery worth in lakhs.
