Cops nab 3 fake auto spare parts’ peddlers

Delhi police has busted a gang of duplicate automobile spare parts manufacturers and has recovered duplicate spare parts worth lakhs of rupees. The accused have been identified as Anil Vij, 39, Umesh Meshram, 24, and Gaurav Chhabra, 25. ‘Based on a specific input received on 5 March, a raid was conducted near Karol Bagh in which Anil was apprehended and many counterfeit spare parts along with two packaging machines were recovered’ said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Additional Commissioner of Police. ‘On interrogation Anil disclosed two names, Umesh Meshram and Gaurav Chhabra’ he added. In this regard, further raids had been conducted and the other two accused have been arrested. The accused confessed that due to heavy demand of a few brands in the market, they started making counterfeit spare parts to make money. Anil hails from Haryana, while the other two are from Delhi. They run automobile shop near Karol Bagh. ‘Further investigation is under progress’ said Srivastava.
