Cops nab 2 thieves, recover foreign currency

Delhi police have arrested a house thief and apprehended a juvenile from north-west Delhi’s Rani Bagh. Indian and foreign currencies have been recovered from them.
The incident was reported on 25 January around noon when the victim, Reeta Singh, checked her wallet and locker and found some Indian and foreign currency stolen from them.
According to the police officials, Singh had pointed fingers towards her servant Vikas (name changed being juvenile) in her complaint.
When the officials interrogated Vikas, he denied having any knowledge of the crime but later he confessed his involvement. Thereafter, he was apprehended and his version was recorded. He disclosed that he had committed this theft at the instance of one of his associates, Vicky Kaushik.
Accordingly, raids were conducted and Vicky Kaushik was also apprehended. He was also interrogated. He had also confessed his involvement. The police had recovered stolen foreign currency from him.
On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that the accused Vicky Kaushik, a juvenile in conflict with law (JICL), has been working at the Mother Dairy booth situated inside the Neelamber Apartments near the house that was robbed.
Vikas used to buy house hold items from the Mother Diary and both of them got acquainted.
Vicky Kaushik used to generally enquire about the internal activity of the house in which Vikas was working as servant.
Over time, Vikas told Vicky about the foreign currency inside the almirah of the complainant and about the keys of the almirah being in his employer’s wallet.
They plotted together and stole the money from the almirah after stealing the key from the wallet.
‘We recovered $82 (US Dollars), Rs 860 and 50 Dirham (currency of Dubai) and $ 115 (US Dollars), 5 Canadian Dollars and 50 British Pounds from their possesion,’ said a senior police official.
