Cops identify 3 suspects, arrests yet to be made

More than 24 hours after a shootout at Gurgaon’s MG Road on Wednesday morning, as many as six teams of Gurgaon Police are hunting for three men who have emerged as the prime suspects in the incident. The hunt is on in Haryana, Western UP and Delhi, said a senior police official on Thursday.

While three teams were formed by the Crime Branch of Gurgaon Police, another is a cyber crime team specialised in technical intelligence, surveillance and tracking. The other two teams are led by the Station House Officers of Gurgaon Sector 10 and Sector 29 police stations, said the senior official.

In his complaint to the police, the victim, Rakesh, alleged that two of his business rivals — identified as Narender, alias, Bhandi and Sandeep, alias, Dabboo — were present among the four assailants.
He also told the police that he was involved in a property dispute with a person, identified as Kapil, who had recently approached his rival Bhandi to help him in confronting Rakesh. Later, the police claimed to have identified three persons who are suspected to be among the four assailants involved in the case and a manhunt was launched, the senior official added.

Rakesh himself has as many as 16 criminal cases registered against him. He was also involved in the alleged murder of the Sarpanch of Haryana’s Hayatpur village, which led to a series of killings, around four years ago.
